Cookie & Storage Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-30

⚠️ Template — review with a qualified lawyer before public launch. Replace all [PLACEHOLDER] values.

This policy explains how RoadPeer uses cookies and similar technologies such as browser local storage, in line with the EU ePrivacy rules and GDPR / DSGVO. RoadPeer is built to use as little client-side storage as possible.

1. Strictly necessary storage

We rely mainly on browser local storage rather than tracking cookies. The key item is:

  • Supabase authentication session. When you sign in, our authentication provider (Supabase) stores a session token in your browser's local storage so you stay logged in and your requests are authorised. This is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for and does not require consent under the ePrivacy rules.
  • Essential preferences. Minimal settings (e.g. theme, last-used view) kept locally so the app works as expected. [PLACEHOLDER: list any essential preference keys]

2. Strictly necessary vs optional

  • Strictly necessary (always on): the authentication session and essential preferences above. Without these the platform cannot function, so they are not subject to opt-in consent.
  • Optional (consent-based): any non-essential storage, such as analytics or feature measurement, is only used if you opt in. At launch we aim to keep optional storage to a minimum. [PLACEHOLDER: list any optional/analytics storage]

3. No advertising cookies

We do not use advertising cookies, ad-targeting pixels, or cross-site tracking. We do not sell your data or build advertising profiles. Map tiles loaded from our map provider may involve a network request that exposes your IP address; see the Privacy Policy.

4. Managing & withdrawing consent

  • You can clear local storage and cookies at any time via your browser settings (this will sign you out).
  • You can withdraw consent to any optional storage through [PLACEHOLDER: in-app cookie/consent settings link].
  • Blocking strictly necessary storage may stop you from logging in or using core features.

5. More information
